My current home doesn't have a verandah or even a porch but I dream of owning a little farmette again, with a verandah overlooking chickens, goats and gardens. Absolute heaven!

WE HAVE CHICKS!

Our broody hen (1 year old black australorp) went broody on May 6 so by May 7 we had her moved to a separate nest with 8 eggs under her. Eggs that our own girls laid.

Incubation is 21 days.

Last night, day 20, we heard peeping, AND she refused to get off her nest. Today, she still refuses but we saw three itty bitty heads pop out to investigate the human voices. Two chicks are black and white, and one is yellow.

We're sooo excited.

Will try to take pictures tomorrow. Hopefully she'll want to get off her nest tomorrow and take a walk. She'll need to poo anyway. And hoping that more eggs will hatch.

Yeah, chicks!
