My current home doesn't have a verandah or even a porch but I dream of owning a little farmette again, with a verandah overlooking chickens, goats and gardens. Absolute heaven!

A GETTING HEALTHY COOKBOOK

May 19 2011:
My Teen is 14 years old. He's ADHD, autistic, OCD, has a math learning disability, and now he has seizures. The neurologist said now that he's had two seizures, he'll likely continue to have them. That means that now he's also labeled with epilepsy.

On May 18 2011, he had his second seizure, just as he was waking up from sleep, which is a common time from what I understand.

Do you have any idea how terrifying it is to hear moaning coming from your child's room, to rush in and find him convulsing on the floor where he's fallen off the bed and is all squished up against the bed and the wall? He bit his tongue so badly, it's black. And the headache, fatigue and extreme hunger afterwards is daunting.

That's just not acceptable.

We WERE going to get a seizure alert / response combo autism therapy dog but turns out, my son doesn't want a dog. Started to resent the time the puppy took from me and his time to do his own projects.

But we'd already collected some money to go towards the puppy,.  Now that we are getting rid of the puppy, we need something else to help mitigate his autistic meltdowns, and to keep track of his seizures.  So ... instead of a puppy, we're signing up for therapy, social classes, and whatever other things we can figure out to make his life (and yes, mine too) easier.

We're also thinking ... he absolutely LOVES one of our silkie chickens, Sneezy. Perhaps we can bring her and one of her friends inside? We'd need to build a small chicken coop for inside the house, one that's easy to clean, won't leak dirt, dust or poo, with an egg-collecting box and room to move around.

To help us pay people back for what they donated, and to pay for these other things like the therapy and such, we are creating a ...
"GETTIN' HEALTHY cookbook"

Since I'm working to get healthy (as of June 30 2011, down from 299 pounds to 253!), thought I'd concentrate on healthy recipes, but I really don't have a lot. Plus I'm not that great of a cook. That's where YOU come in.  Please e-mail your 5 (10? 20? :) ) of your favorite recipes to: vikkibooks At yAhoo DOT com .

Include your name (or nickname) and location. I'll assume since you've e-mailed your recipes, you give me permission to print them. I'll compile the recipes, print them in a comb-bound-type book, and sell at garage sales or flea market or wherever I can. Will also compile in a .pdf file and submit to amazon.com or otherwise sell online.

Again, proceeds to help pay back those who donated for the dog, plus therapies, medication for my son's seizures, and whatever else we can do to help mitigate his autistic meltdowns.

In exchange for your 10 (ten) recipe contributions, you can have a business-card size advertisement in the cookbook, for your blog, business, etc. Resolution should be 300 dpi, 3.75x2.25 (1125x675 pixels) inches.

Sections in the "GETTING HEALTHY" cookbook:
-crockpot dishes
-pantry put-togethers (using stored foods)
