My current home doesn't have a verandah but I'd like it to! A long porch surrounding the entire house. With a porch swing, potted blueberry plants, and a long strong dog laying at my feet. The sweet smell of lrosemary and freshly-turned soil wafting across my yard. The chickens clucking contentedly as they scratch for goodies in the fertile dirt. Knowing we have a full root cellar, trees in the orchard about to drop their bounty, and soup made all from hand-picked harvests bubbling in the crockpot. Heaven.

Please move with me over to my current blog, www.rosemary-ridge.blogspot.com ... thank you!

A GARDEN MAZE OR LABYRINTH

Trying to figure out how to make our little farmette somewhat profitable so Hubby can quit job in a couple of years. Since we might not be getting any cash inheritance from FIL's estate, thinking thinking thinking.

We have about 1/2 an acre in the front that has nothing on it but a small tree. Now, since we're already planning on planting lots of berry brambles, how about we plant them in a maze or labyrinth of some kind? People will have to "be in the moment" to walk through it, to be mindful of the thorns and can even pick some to take with them. In the center could be a nice little sitting area with sculpture or that little tree (no idea what kind) or a big beautiful rose bush.

Nothing complicated. Plenty of room in the rows for lawnmower. Just blackberries and/or raspberries. Maybe grape vines along an arbor-entrance.

Charge $5 or $10 per person to walk it? Plus extra for picking berries or up the price and include the berries in the admission (one bucket per person for say $20 admission).

Would people be willing to drive the hour from the big city to walk the maze? To pick a few blackberries?

Thoughts?

That seems like an interesting idea. What about goats with collectible fur or angora rabbits? I can teach you how to spin if you don't know how.

I have carpal tunnel. Tried spinning but after the first attempt, could barely move my hands. Good idea tho.
