My current home doesn't have a verandah or even a porch but I dream of owning a little farmette again, with a verandah overlooking chickens, goats and gardens. Absolute heaven!

Finished the goat pen

After a day of family's hard labor, we finally finished the goat pen and goat house. It's not perfect and certainly not beautiful but definitely functional. Had to take apart some of what the guys did last week ... didn't pay attention to some of my instructions! We added a slant to the roof before we tarped it. Added 2 more tarps to keep the rain out (we'll do more weatherproofing before winter). Finished the goat fence. Dug trenches to prevent the puddling from rain (like last week when we got a couple of inches in a couple of hours and it all flowed down into the goat pen). Dug a trench to catch rain around the tree in the middle of the yard that we decided to keep anyway ... isn't a birch after all. Replanned the veggie garden since the tree is staying. Started the chicken pens. Cleaned the kitchen. Got sunburnt. Scraped my hands and arms and shoulder on bailing wire until lost lots of blood.

Hubby and Kid did most of the hard labor but I still helped and can barely move. Again.
DIDN'T get the tree-lings planted, or outdoor "kiddie-pool-beds" filled and planted. Didn't get the lawn mowed and now it's too high. Didn't eat out or go to the grocery or anywhere at all this weekend.

Called the guys to come get their tools. Don't need their help anymore. Cost too much to replace the drill bits they broke, AND they left some of our tools out in the rain and hail and ice last week. Not good. Still haven't come by to pick up their stuff yet.

Pix to follow later today.
