My current home doesn't have a verandah or even a porch but I dream of owning a little farmette again, with a verandah overlooking chickens, goats and gardens. Absolute heaven!

Swine Flu Turned Viral Bronchitis

Our whole family came down with the swine flu (H1N1) the first week in November. I was first and had it longest, then Hubby then Kid. We've all recovered but have lingering coughs. So I made the doctor see me yesterday and didn't come away with great news. Yes, the H1N1 flu is gone, but in it's place is a nasty little viral bronchitis. Now, my immune system is naturally horrible and quite compromised so I usually get bronchitis once or twice a year. This time, it wasn't anything to sneeze out. Ha. Pun.

Ahem. Never mind.

Anyway, the doc said to keep with Musinex, take something for the cough (RX tessalon pearls) and a bronchial inhaler (another RX). Keep an eye on it, and if it gets worse or if my fever gets worse, it's turning into pneumonia.

Guess that's something we should all keep an eye on. Anyone who had the flu with the cough should pay attention to how long the cough lasts, whether it's productive or dry, and any new symptoms, like the return of a fever.

Luckily, the Kid's cough is just a lingering cough with no sign of bronchitis, no fluid in his lungs so no signs of pneumonia. Just normal teenagery surliness!

So I'm gonna try to get a little more rest over the next few days. Which means house-hunting, soup-inventing and writing get put on hold.

I wonder if I can get the Kid to do a load of laundry?
