This goat, CM2, would rather kick or try to sit down or bite than have anyone touch her udder. Not much of a "milking goat", is she?
Looks like breeder has time to send an e-mail under a fake name (Oh don't get me started on THAT!) but didn't have time to milk? Back hooves were so bad they were curling around, and front hooves weren't much better (don't have goats if you don't have the time).... no wonder CM2 was so crabby ... she could barely walk! And no time to rub or stroke her underside in the 6 months since we contracted for CM2 a "milking doe"? Not even 5 minutes every few days to rub her or gentle her at all? Maybe it was just that the breeder thought we'd take CM2 and believe the difficulty in milking is our fault and just give up. Maybe she thought she could pawn off her "wild" goat to an unsuspecting dupe. Maybe it was an honest mistake.

I really detest being lied to and misled. Everyday reveals more information about that breeder, and it ain't good.
Hubby is very upset that the milk we've been waiting so anxiously for isn't coming. Thankfully ... how do I put this ... he's got a regular supply of goat milk anyway.
That Nigerian Dwarf Goat Breeder in Conifer Colorado (near Denver) will NEVER be used by us again, and anyone who asks us about her will know about our experience. Maybe I should contact the American Dairy Goat Association or the American Goat Association or the Better Business Bureau.

As soon as we realized CM2 wasn't worked with and hates being touched (not even to be cleaned for milking), we redoubled our efforts with Honey, the 4 months old doeling from the same breeder. Everytime we pet her, which is every time we go to the goat pen, we scratch behind her ears and rub on her tummy, and even give very gentle pulls on her little bitty teats. A couple of days ago we encouraged her to get up on the stanchion, and once she realized that made her taller than CM2 and her brother, Hawk, she kept climbing on top to play "Queen of the World". She loves her "play time" now! Her wether brother bleated until we let him up too. What fun!
Yep. I'm sure she'll be fine, and associate the stanchion with fun. See? Doesn't take but a few minutes a day.

With everything going on, I'm gonna take a break from posting/blogging for a while. I might come back in a little while to show pictures of my garden or critters or ... I don't know ... but for now... in between the mess with the trash hole, that mess with CM2 the non-milking doe, and getting this homestead up and running, plus my crying jags (hormones or frustration.. you pick), I need the break.

Aw I've been reading about the trouble you've had with Cocoa! I think you should file a complaint, some place! Save somebody else the headaches you guys have had since working with this breeder! It's amazing to me how people like that can sleep at night!

You might try using wooden bars in front and behind her rear legs or get a set of "kickers" and see if she will settle down in time.
Natalia: Thanks for the thoughts! The American Dairy Goat Association doesn't take complaints unless the breeder lies about the pedigree only. That's one of the few things she got right (I'm assuming). Still looking into other ways to complain.
MEB: Thanks for the suggestion. We had sides put on our stanchion but that doesn't seem to stop her.... kicking or sitting down is her new trick. She's as slick as if she's got soap rubbed on her, but Hubby is strong! We figured out how to hold up her hind end while milking, but seriously, milking shouldn't have to be an acrobatic act! We think we have a solution. If it works, I'll post it after a while.

Just pass the word to avoid Crowley Manor Nigerian Dwarf Goats because that are (allegedly!) not as they appear.
